Sunday’s Coming

Looking at this video, saying to ourselves ‘At least we are not like that’…is foolish pride.  I find myself less there than in the stream of imitation of this act.  It seems that creativity and passion in worship always gets hijacked and turned corporate.  I don’t question the hearts of men and women who do worship – I question the authenticity of the whole act of contrived worship.  Contemporary, relevant, traditional, charismatic…it doesn’t matter.  All are subjected to inauthentic movement.  Wanting quality isn’t the same as producing a show.  We need to examine the liturgy and tradition in which we participate and ask if we are seeking to please God or to please man.
